The world is noisy, especially for women. Everyone has an opinion about who you should be, but there is only one opinion that matters: yours. There is only one story you are writing: yours. There is only one ladder you a climbing: yours.
You don't need a resume to participate and share in the #ClimbYourOwnLadder community. None of that matters. All you need to be is unapologetically you. Our 3 Billion Strong are partners, mothers, businesswomen, educators, learners, thinkers, meditators and more.
Your heart? That's what we are here to help you share. But, in a noisy world and in our noisy heads, we have to find our quiet and listen hard to get to our hearts. We have to move past our minds. We have to gather courage.
Don't try to comprehend with your mind. Your minds are very limited. Use your intuition. - Madeleine L'Engle, A Wrinkle in Time
I attended a meditation workshop with a Tibetan monk and he said, "Kristen, stop listening to the stories you tell yourself in your mind. They are not true. They only create problems. Let go of the stories. Listen to the deep silence."
This is an Oh-Sh*t moment, y'all.
It's pretty easy to recognize the noise outside of us: GOOPing, Leaning In, Insta-humblebragging, keeping up with the Kardashian's and the commercials and the bloggers and the neighbors down the street. All that noise will keep us busy if we let it.
Taking some time to let your heart escape the noise outside of you is the first step. Once your heart stops spinning out of control and your souls feels quiet, even for a few minutes, then you meet your own mind and her stories. The ones that the monk was talking about. They aren't real. They are a tape recording of your life spitting back to you all the shoulda-coulda-woulda and then some. They tell you that you can't, you won't, nor should you even try. It's a hot mess that we are all holding in there. Shut it down, my friends.
It's a process, and sometimes it's a long one. Getting to the heart is about starting the journey. This is not a game: you don't need to finish a level to move onto the next one. The journey is the destination, cliche but true.
You must train your intuition - you must trust the small voice inside you which tells you exactly what to say, what to decide. – Ingrid Bergman
The first concept behind #ClimbYourOwnLadder is Follow Your Own Compass. Before you can follow it, you must find it. We're here to help.
